William Novelli
Director AARP
601 E Street, NW
Washington, D.C.
20049
Dear Mr. Novelli:
While hardly surprising, I am still outraged that the organization that purports to speak for and advance the interests of seniors would allow itself to be hijacked by the huge drug companies and private health organizations.
This cabal has as its goal nothing less than to undermine and, ultimately, destroy Medicare and to continue its brutal rape of consumers through forever rising drug costs that are totally indefensible. Just sit for a while in the outer office of any doctor and you realize how insidious the drug companies are - infiltrating the inner sanctums of physicians through outright bribes and payoffs, etc.
Yet you are spending millions of dollars, provided by the fees of hard-working and hardly well-to-do members, helping to promote legislation which benefits the absolute worst elements of our corporate culture.
The AARP does not represent me or my wife and family. In fact, it represents the enemies of the elderly. Thus it makes no sense for us to support the AARP.
Please cancel our membership and return on a pro-rated basis the balance of membership fees. We are returning one of our cards and will return the second one when we receive the dues owed to us.
Sincerely,
Edward and Ann Shanahan
